Sonny Landreth

Sonny Landreth is known as one of the best blues guitar players in the world, notably for his unique version of Slide Guitar. There were a lot of local guitar players in attendance to witness his playing. He started with a very stripped acoustic set that was very intimate. You could feel the appreciation for his talents in the room. Then he amped it up with an unforgettable electric set.

The over all feeling in the room was appreciation. He took the entire crowd for a journey through blues music. Each song had a theme or city he would reference. The crowd would be transported to the exact place the music would take them.

The crowd was utterly immersed in the music. They stood silently as the music filled the room and captivated the audience.

Sonny would often make jokes referring to blues as a depressing form of music. He would say:

“Time for another depressing Blues song in a minor chord.” The crowd would get a laugh at this.
