The Stooges Brass Band: The Stooges Brass Band has earned their rank as one of the elite brass bands in New Orleans.  The band consistently provides a welcome blast of true New Orleans spirit engaging audiences with their innovative blend of traditional New Orleans brass sounds, contemporary jazz and hip-hop beats. Emerging onto the scene in 1996, the Stooges Brass Band has gained notoriety as a full-blown musical party immersing the crowd in a cut-loose vibe that is contemporary yet deeply rooted in the culturally rich musical legacy of New Orleans.  The band has shared the stage with: Ozomatli, Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli), Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Shemekia Copeland, Pedrito Martinez Group, Galactic, Brownout, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave, Big Sam's Funky Nation, The Funky Meters, and Jessica Simpson, among others. The band is undeniably one of the hardest working bands out of New Orleans, and their dedication to their craft has made an impact. The Stooges Brass Band victoriously battled for the title of "Red Bull Street Kings: Best Brass Band" (the subject of the documentary Brass Bands of New Orleans: Red Bull Street Kings). Along with this auspicious title, the band won a recording and mentorship session at the Red Bull Studios in California. You can watch the results of this project here: The Red Bull Studio Sessions. The band also received the award for "Best Contemporary Brass Band 2011" at the Big Easy Music Awards. The Stooges Brass Band continues to tour performing at venues throughout the country and appearing at famed festivals such as New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Bonnaroo, South by Southwest, Utah Arts Festival, Discover Jazz, American Folk Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, , Great American Brass Band Festival, and more. The Stooges Brass Band has also answered the call to serve as cultural ambassadors and were employed by the US Embassy to tour, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.  Other international appearances include the Edinburgh Jazz Festival, the Durham Brass Festival in the UK and Nuits D’Afrique, Tremblant Blues Festival in Canada. Whether they're second-lining in the back streets of the Crescent City, or performing their spirited stage show, the Stooges Brass Band delivers an authentic New Orleans celebration.

A Certain Groove: A Certain Groove is a different kind of cover band. The band first started as an idea in the head of drummer Matt Souza in the Fall of 2012. The concept was to put together a top-notch group of musicians able to take well-known pop and rock songs and reinterpret them through a lens of classic funk. Veteran guitarist John Jackson was looking for a fun project with high creative potential when he saw an ad on Craigslist that was just what he needed. Jackson quickly brought in funk/jazz bassist Sam Corea to round out the rock-solid rhythm section. The project quickly gained steam when Matt Dzugan and Brian Rosenbaum showed up with brass in hands, playing trombone/sousaphone and trumpet, respectively, forming the staple of every great funk band: a bad-ass horn section. Now all they needed were some pipes. They lucked out when they found Fred “FL” Jones, a charismatic Broadway performer, and Jenay Versey, a soulful singer with music in her genes to handle the mics and run the show. The band played its first gig at Brennan’s Pub in Marina Del Rey to high acclaim and tremendous response. They’ve since wowed crowds at Trip, and will soon be rocking The Mint, Tower 42, St. Rocke (opening for Stooges Brass Band), and will have a featured slot at Burbstock 2013. A Certain Groove prides itself on revitalizing classic jams, fusing them with the soul of funk to create something unique, accessible, artful, exciting, and always hip. Their live shows feature creative adaptations of popular songs, clever mashups, high-intensity jams, and even light-up sousaphones. Their shows are epic explorations of your favorite tunes (from the Beatles to Adele to NIN), guaranteed to make you smile and shake your hips. A Certain Groove will bring a night that you’ll never forget to your club, bar, festival or private/corporate event. For booking please visit www.facebook.com/ACertainGroove
