Delhi 2 Dublin: Delhi 2 Dublin is a band from Vancouver BC. They invented the genre 'celtic punjabi electronica' which sounds pretty dumb on paper, but is actually super badass. They play really LOUD party music, so don't invite them over for 'that ethnic feel' at your next cocktail part cause 'that ethnic feel' will slap your guests straight upside the bhangra muscle. many people like them, from little kids to grannies. seriously, their shows are like scenes from an alternate dimension where people are nice to each other and everything's ok. delhi 2 dublin is way more indie than all those other indie bands cause some of their members are actually from india. their new album is dope. it has a big skull with lotus flower eyes and a volume control for a third eye. it's called 'turn up the stereo' and it came out aug28th in canada and comes out jan 2013 in the rest of the world. so if you're in the rest of the world better make a trip to canada soon to stock up on bagels and poutine and delhi 2 dublin cd's. montreal bagels are so much better then the ones from new york anyways. these guys play a lot of shows. like 150 a year. they don't wear any crazy costumes, but they do play some freaky instruments and jump around in a synchronized manner. actually a lot of their show consists of people jumping around and yelling and sometimes stage diving in canoes. they really like gogol bordello, manu chao, the weeknd, kid cudi, jazzy b, rihanna, chase and status, dj fresh, and tons of other random shit.. so don't be all prejudiced - listen, watch, party with them and be happy.

Gumbo Brothers: The Gumbo BrothersTHE GUMBO BROTHERS Over the last nine years,The Gumbo Brothers have firmly rooted themselves in the eclectic artistic tradition of Venice Beach, California with weekly performances at various local venues and parties. Since 2003, they have been entertaining the Venice community with an annual Mardi Gras parade on the boardwalk including a traditional brass band, funky drum corps, stilt walkers, dancers and costumed bead-throwing revelers. The band's debut cd, Funky Freedom, was released in 2007. According to CDBaby, "This collection of swampy funk is deep in the pocket, right where it should be. The grooves are thick, the vocals are sparse and always add texture to the interplay between the musicians, and the vibes never get bogged down...The Gumbo Brothers say they're 'going to hit you with some ass-shakin' funk!' They got that right. Prepare yourself." It was followed up in 2008 by The Gumbo Brothers On Fire, a collection of original Mardi Gras songs. In 2008, they were involved in the creation and release of The Gumbo Family Holiday Album - a collection of 14 holiday songs performed by 25 different musicians with all of the proceeds benefiting Students Run LA, which helps mentor at-risk youth to stay in school through goal setting and fitness programs. They are currently working hard on their next cd, Chicken Gumbo, a funky, instrumental mixture of original grooves. Dedicated to musicianship and exploring the traditions of funk, soul, jazz and r&b, The Gumbo Brothers have a wide appeal and an electrifying live show. Influences include: The Meters, Dr. John, War, Grant Green, Ivan “boogaloo” Joe Jones, James Brown, The Dirty Dozen, Galactic, and Walter “Wolfman” Washington. With several shows behind them including notable appearances at the Boom Boom Room in San Francisco, The House of Blues in LA, and venues up and down the west coast, this Venice-based quartet is bringing their infectious, booty movin' bayou grooves to swamp-funk fans throughout the southland and beyond. The Gumbo Brothers are Johann Stein on guitar and vocals, Greg Sonnier on bass and vocals, Jon McBride on electric piano, organ and saxophone, and Reggie Longware on drums. The Gumbo Brothers currently perform as an 8 piece band with a horn section including Jamelle Williams (trumpet), Matt DeMerritt (sax), Shaunte Palmer (trombone) and Sebastian Leger (trumpet).
