Natural Vibrations: Natural Vibrations, the Pacific’s premiere reggae band, just released their long-awaited and highly anticipated 6th full-length album, titled Got This Music. The project, their first full-length release in five years, is produced by Imua Garza and Brett Ortone, the same production team responsible for blockbuster hit titles by Rebel Souljahz and Kolohe Kai. A veteran of the Pacific reggae scene for over 15 years, Natural Vibrations has been repeatedly praised by critics for their straight- ahead, no-holds-barred pop/rock/reggae musical style and their dynamic and energetic live concert performances. With its winning combination of the classic Natural Vibrations sound and an edgy, modern production style, Got This Music solidifies Natural Vibrations place at the top of the reggae ladder. Being Hawaii’s top party and dance band, it is only appropriate that the new Natty Vibes album lead off with the hot track
Beginning in high school year of 2011, the crucial desire to share their love for Reggae and make music was manifested by Aaron Valdez, Marc Donini and Kennedy Peneueta-Peapea. These three eventually would start their first project illuminated as High Tides consisting of close high school friends, Ruben Siqueiros (Bass), Juan "Chubbs" Ramirez (Lead Guitar), Jacob Sanchez (Percussion) and Horn section, Michael Blanco (Trombone), Mauricio Ruiz (Sax/Trumpet) and Thomas Rivera (Trombone). The band was spreading in their hometown of Carson, Ca very fast, until the liability of a taken name was made aware of them. From then on, Ital Vibes, all having the same desire for creativity in music, unfortunately not everyone had the same ideal genre they were looking to grasp nor the visual outlook of their future opportunities they would eventually partake in.
Soon after, Ital Vibes, regrouped in late 2012 and was revived into what now stands as an 8 piece team with the addition of Jacob's brother Juston Sanchez (Rhythm Keys), Manhattan Beach bredren Andy Deemer (Guitar), very good friend from Rancho Palos Verdes, Blake Bartz (Drums) and the eclectic Reggae/Hip-Hop influence of Jeremy "Levi Dozier" Kary as second vocals/harmonies. Steffano Lasso, who indeed brought them to higher heights, partially filled in as Bassie for that time being and still remains as backup Keysie.
Rian Basilio & The Roosters: In a culture where image and material value weigh heavier on a musician’s success than actual talent or creed, a young man from a small town on the island of hawaii, has set out to resurrect the conscious music and harmonious spirit of an era not so long ago, yet long forgotten. With their self titled debut album "Rian Basilio and The Roosters" have created a sound that will transport listeners back to the golden age of reggae. They have combined the elements of roots, rockers and dub reggae with blues, soul, rock, hip-hop, r&b and hawaiian music. Rian’s unique voice only intensifies the already poetic and deeply personal lyrics, which touch upon subjects from world and political turmoil to equally important issues of the heart and soul. The narrative and messages that exist within his songs are delivered to the listener through haunting melodies and hooks that will linger in the sub-conscious long after the song has ended.
In order to record the album, Rian assembled a group of reggae music veterans to help him re-create the sound and feel of classic roots. From the wailing organs, scratchy chank guitar and bubbly keys, to the classic three part female background vocals and one drop drums; The Roosters have created an album that stays true to the tenets of classic reggae while still being relevant both musically and lyrically in today’s world. The much anticipated album is slated to be released in the summer of 2011.
With nothing but open road ahead of them, The Roosters are looking forward to spreading their music throughout the world. Their live show is an event not to be missed. Comprised of members who have shared the stage with countless reggae legends, The Roosters are no amateurs when it comes to live performance. From start to finish they come full force with a powerful sound and an energy that can ignite the masses.
