Honey Island Swamp Band: Great music begins with great songs, and great songs are what the Honey Island Swamp Band is all about. The band came together after Aaron Wilkinson (acoustic guitar, mandolin, vocals) and Chris Mule’ (electric guitar, vocals) were marooned in San Francisco after the levee breaches following Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, and had a chance encounter with fellow New Orleans evacuees Sam Price (bass, vocals) and Garland Paul (drums, vocals) at John Lee Hooker’s Boom Boom Room on Fillmore Street. Honey Island Swamp Band‘s music has been described as “Bayou Americana”, with timeless songs from Wilkinson & Mulé, highlighted by Mulé’s searing guitar, Wilkinson’s sure-handed mandolin, and 4-part vocal harmonies, all anchored by the powerful groove of Price & Paul’s Louisiana stomp rhythm section. The addition of Trevor Brooks on Hammond B-3 organ to the HISB family in 2010 has rounded out the band’s sound, which draws from a variety of influences in the world of roots music, including artists such as Lowell George & Little Feat, The Band, Taj Mahal, Gram Parsons, Jerry Garcia, Johnny Cash, Jimmy Reed, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, and New Orleans’ own Earl King and Dr. John. http://www.honeyislandswampband.com/

Pompous Highmen: Pompous Highmen is a unique melting pot of musical style. Although the members of the band share a lot of the same favorites from a wide array of genres, they each have their own tastes as well. This results in a sound that is hard to pin to a single genre. These three South Bay natives draw from far too many a styles to list, yet combine them in a way that is natural. Many bands of this nature have a slew of songs of different styles that do not fit together. With Pompous, this is not the case. Although these Highmen write songs from what some may consider different genres, the end result always contains the signature sound of Pompous Highmen.

Mark Cassidy: Mark Cassidy, born and raised in sunny southern California, stumbled upon a banjo when he was 17. Ever since that day, the sound of the banjo and the craft of perfecting an instrument consumed his life. Twelve years later, he has toured coast to coast with several national acts, won banjo championships, recorded on several top selling albums, and now taking on the roll of a band leader. This trio consists of renown players, all from different backgrounds of music, giving this group a sound like no other. From bluegrass, to reggae, jazz, blues, rock, and more. With an infectious, high-energy sound to heart wrenching ballads, this trio of musical all-stars will leave you begging for more!
